As you know, I announced my candidacy for state representative in the 58th District of Illinois in 2002. After years of dedication and hard work for our community, I want to realize my vision of fair-minded, independent leadership and bring the citizens of this district the responsive representation they deserve.

For too many years our elected officials have sacrificed North Shore school districts and burdened suburban residents with higher taxes in favor of wasteful spending on programs for the City of Chicago. The new 58th District spans from Glencoe to Northbrook and Lake Forest to Highland Park, and this diverse community deserves representation that reflects its values and not those of inner city politicians.  Politics, as they currently exist in Springfield, must change.

We need to restore fiscal responsibility to Illinois state government by eliminating wasteful spending and requiring full disclosure of pork-laden member initiatives.  Then we will be able to honor our commitments to our children and seniors, and work to help those who cannot help themselves.  Special education programs and facilities in our district need additional funding; lower income seniors need
affordable access to prescription drugs; we need prudent Tort Reform to improve access to care and enhance all areas of healthcare; and we must upgrade and strengthen our local emergency management resources to meet our security needs in this post-September 11th world.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to working together in improving our community.

Marc
